1995
Within E.S. Van Dam Gallery, I found a storage area constructed between gallery walls and windows.
I projected 35 mm slides on a wall visible from the gallery desk or when turning at the end of the sheetrock wall run.
The black-and-white photographs were taken as I entered into performing emotional states.
At first, the facial expressions were to realistic and too much about me.
I was after a prototype not a self-portrait so I zeroxed the 35 mm contact sheets and re-photographed with macro lenses.
Upon several attempts, the abstraction developed with realistic clarity.
I attached a time-sync device to the projector that signals the side to drop in recorded time.
